“The Fish Rots from the Head Down”

Washington, DC – The following is a statement from Scott Simpson, public advocacy director at Muslim Advocates, regarding White House National Security Advisor John Bolton’s selection of Fred Fleitz for his Chief of Staff. Fleitz was a leader of the anti-Muslim hate group Center for Security policy:

“The White House continues to be the nation’s central organizing body for white supremacists. The appointment of Fred Fleitz – a leader of the anti-Muslim and conspiracy-obsessed hate group Center for Security Policy – speaks volumes about the administration’s prioritization of fear-mongering and racism over actual national security issues.

The fish rots from the head down: a president who specializes in conspiracy theories and appoints bigoted advisors like John Bolton, who are, in turn, staffed by hate group officials.

The administration’s policies continue to discriminate against Muslims, immigrants, people of color, women, people with disabilities, and the LGBTQ community. The Fleitz appointment will only make matters worse for all.”
