Solidarity with SPLC Against Intimidation and Repression

On April 21, the U.S. Department of Justice indicted the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), marking the latest escalation in the Trump Administration’s campaign to instill fear and silence dissent in service of its white supremacist agenda. Over the decades, civil rights organizations like SPLC have been essential to protecting our communities from authoritarianism and cruelty. They do the hard work to protect our rights to work, worship–or not, travel, and simply live with privacy and dignity, free from hate, discrimination, censorship or surveillance.

SPLC has documented violent white supremacists for decades, as well as extremists with connections to the Trump Administration itself. Rather than severing ties with avowed bigots, this administration chose to attack the very organization that exposes those connections. The Trump regime is attempting to intimidate critics into silence and shut down the groups holding power accountable—from those protecting protesters who demand an end to genocide and war, to organizations serving immigrant communities at their most vulnerable moments. Muslim Advocates affirms our solidarity with SPLC and all who refuse to be silenced in our collective pursuit of justice. Now is a time for courageous resistance. We must continue to organize, support each other, and refuse to allow this administration’s intimidation tactics to succeed.
