Muslim Advocates Responds to Bannon Removal From White House: “This is still the same Trump Administration.”

Washington, DC – The following is a statement from Farhana Khera, executive director of Muslim Advocates, regarding reports that Steve Bannon is out of the White House. Muslim Advocates has spearheaded coalition civil rights efforts to oust BannonSebastian Gorka, and other white supremacists in the administration:

“The White House is no place for white supremacists. Steve Bannon’s removal is a direct result of the hard work and commitment of grassroots advocates in the Trump Era. Bannon’s consistent pandering to President Trump’s white supremacist base flies in the face of American values, and has no place in the White House or beyond.

Make no mistake: this is still the same Trump Administration. To be sure, Bannon’s removal is only a half-step: Gorka and Miller, and many others with bigoted agendas, remain.

Muslim Advocates has worked very hard to urge the White House to make moves like this and we are proud of the millions of Americans who have spoken out to force the administration’s hand on this and on issues like the Trump business council.

It cannot be ignored that this comes on the heels of President Trump citing a myth about defiling Muslims with pig’s blood to posture on national security, an endorsement of Confederate monuments, and giving cover to people who firebombed a mosque.  Just today, media was reporting that nativist sheriff Joe Arpaio was being pardoned.

There is more work to be done. Gorka, Miller, and many others continue to elevate the white supremacist platform from the White House, and it must be stopped immediately.”

Muslim Advocates is a national legal advocacy and educational organization that works on the frontlines of civil rights to guarantee freedom and justice for Americans of all faiths.
