Sadaf Hasan

Staff Attorney

Sadaf Hasan is a Staff Attorney with Muslim Advocates. Her work has covered issues on immigrant justice, surveillance, police misconduct, wrongful convictions, and low-wage worker’s rights.

Most recently, Sadaf was an Immigrant Justice Corps Fellow at Brooklyn Defender Services where she worked closely with non-citizen and immigrant communities at the intersections of the criminal, immigration, and family legal systems. As a public defender, Sadaf represented clients in deportation proceedings and complex applications before USCIS through a holistic defense model.

Before her legal career, Sadaf worked globally on social justice issues for seven years. Her work ranged from investigating rights violations of migrant domestic workers in Jordan as a Fulbright Scholar to leading development strategies to fund grassroots-led gender justice movements at Global Fund for Women. She’s also worked with various refugee and migrant communities in Lebanon, Palestine, and Bangladesh.

Overall, her commitment to dismantling unjust systems through movement-led strategies is informed by a decade of experience in building community power through legal and non-legal advocacy both globally and in the U.S.

Sadaf earned her J.D. from CUNY School of Law and her B.A. from Bard College.
