Mariam Mehter serves as Muslim Advocates’ Senior Development Officer. In this role, she works with the Development Team to implement a sustainable development strategy while ensuring the fulfilment of donors' philanthropic goals.

Mariam joins Muslim Advocates from her most recent position as Campaign and Donor Relations Manager at American Physical Society where she managed multi-year endowment campaigns and focused on soliciting and securing gifts from individual and corporate donors. She is a passionate advocate for human rights and brings a deep commitment to international and domestic social justice missions. Mariam has a demonstrated record of professional and volunteer experience with the Muslim community and civil liberties organizations such as El-Hibri Foundation, Zakat Foundation of America, and the US Campaign for Burma. She was also a founding board member of Impact 100 Greater Chesapeake, and served as Treasurer of the board of directors for RAHMA. Prior to her work in non-profit, Mariam began her professional career in the financial services industry where she guided clients as a financial advisor across full-service and deep discount brokerage firms.

She received her BA from Syracuse University with a double-major in Economics and Biology and minors in Policy Studies and Psychology
