FOIA Request Overview

In June 2018, Muslim Advocates submitted a Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) request to U.S. Customs & Border Protection (“CBP”) regarding policies and statistics from CBP’s Trusted Traveler program. The Trusted Traveler program offers expedited screening processes for international travelers who submit additional background information and qualify to obtain a credential (such as Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, etc.). The policies and guidance requested include information on how CBP treats these credentials and how many people have applied and received them.
