FOIA Request Overview

In May 2018, Muslim Advocates, along with the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, filed two Freedom of Information Act requests regarding the Trump administration’s decision to nearly dismantle the entire Temporary Protected Status program termination against the advice of senior U.S. diplomats and experts.

The Trump administration is using every means at its disposal to shutter U.S. borders and expel immigrants and refugees, no matter the circumstances. Despite violent and dangerous country conditions, they have chosen to deny protection to thousands of individuals, despite clear humanitarian need, United States laws, and the U.S.’s international obligations. The American people deserve the full facts as to why the Trump administration terminated significant portions of the program despite the well-documented need for the program to continue.
