FOIA Request Overview

In February 2018, Muslim Advocates filed a Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) request seeking information about the Trump administration’s reported attempts to include, as a part of the country’s refugee resettlement process, an assessment as to a given refugee’s “likelihood of successful assimilation and contribution to the United States.”

Muslim Advocates submitted this records request to the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
