Muslim Advocates Applauds Creation of Hate Crimes Website
The following is a statement from Madihha Ahussain, special counsel for anti-Muslim bigotry at Muslim Advocates, regarding the Department of Justice’s new hate crimes website announced today, which is designed to be a central resource for victims, law enforcement officials, and advocacy groups:
This announcement is long overdue, but the website is a welcome resource for hate crime victims and advocates.
For over six years, Muslim Advocates was part of a coalition of over 90 interfaith, Muslim, Arab, South Asian, Sikh, Jewish, and other groups that urged the White House and the Department of Justice, under the previous and current administration, to create this website specifically dedicated to hate crimes because of increasing hate violence against numerous communities.
As our nation reels from a horrific weekend, with innocent lives lost, we are reminded why resources like this are needed now more than ever.
