NEW POLL: Muslim Ban is “Unpopular and Underwater”

Washington, DC – A new poll, conducted by Probolsky Research on behalf of Muslim Advocates, shows that the Muslim Ban is extremely unpopular among voters, ahead of this week’s Supreme Court oral arguments in the Muslim Ban case.

Probolsky Research, a Republican-owned firm, conducted the multi-mode survey of 1,000 voters (520 by telephone and 480 online) from March 29 – April 10, 2018, yielding a margin of error of +/-3.2 percent. The survey asked: “Do you approve or disapprove of the travel ban from several predominantly-Muslim countries?”

The poll concluded that:

  •       Only 35.8 percent of voters approve of the travel ban
  •       43.5 percent of voters disapprove of the travel ban; and
  •       20.7 percent are unsure

These findings represent 2018’s only national public poll on the Muslim Ban that could be located by Muslim Advocates. The findings indicate that support for the ban is among the lowest levels recorded by any public polls since the policy was announced in January 2017.

“The Muslim Ban is both unconstitutional and unpopular,” according to Scott Simpson, public advocacy director for Muslim Advocates. “In this case, both voters and courts have clearly agreed that discriminating against Muslims or any religious group is wrong. Now it’s up to the Supreme Court to do the same.” Muslim Advocates – Voter Survey – Strategic Memo (1)
