Issue: Muslim Ban
Muslim Advocates Joins Interfaith SCOTUS Brief Against the Muslim Ban
Muslim Advocates joined 21 interfaith groups and submitted an amicus brief to the Supreme Court arguing against President Trump’s Muslim Ban. The brief argued that not only is the Muslim ban unconstitutional, but it also hurts Americans and our values and ideals as a nation that heralds freedom and equality. Furthermore, the diverse coalition of organizations recognized that an attack on one faith group is an attack on all.
“Amici have a wide array of beliefs and come from different faith traditions, yet they unite here to speak with one voice in urging the Court not to grant relief that would result in the reinstatement of Executive Order 13,780,” stated the brief.
Organizations that submitted the brief include Interfaith Alliance, the National Council of Jewish Women, the Southwest Conference of the United Church of Christ, Islamic Relief USA, Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity, and T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights.
