MORE INFORMATION
Muslim Advocates invites you to register now for our upcoming webinar for Attorneys on Representing Clients Targeted by Law Enforcement for a Voluntary Interview.Thousands of American Muslims have been targeted for “voluntary interviews” since September 11, 2001–interviews unconnected to any specific criminal investigation. These interviews have become increasingly coercive.
How do you represent clients targeted for a voluntary interview?
In an effort to answer this question, Muslim Advocates will be hosting a webinar on December 11, 2013 at 12 PM PST / 3 PM EST.
Discussion will be led by:
John Floyd, a very highly regarded criminal defense attorney based in Houston. Mr. Floyd, who has provided pro bono representation to some 200 American Muslims targeted for voluntary interviews, will discuss ways to counsel clients and prepare them for interviews.
Mike German, Policy Counsel on National Security, Immigration and Privacy at the ACLU. Mr. German, an expert on national security and intelligence issues, is also a former FBI agent and, as such, has a unique perspective on FBI interview tactics.
The event will be moderated by Adil Haq, Staff Attorney with Muslim Advocates.
Following discussion, there will be a question and answer period.
Please note, this event is be offered for FREE to practioners, but as a condition of attending we ask that you agree to make a good-faith effort to take on representation (pro bono) of a community member targeted for a voluntary interview in your area.
Following registration, details about logging onto the webinar will be emailed to you.
REGISTRATION CLOSES ON DECEMBER 8, 2013 AT 11:59 PM (PST).
